ABOUT
Faye Tsakas is a Greek-American filmmaker based in Los Angeles. She was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Cinema and a Vimeo Breakout Creator in 2025.
Her work documents strains of contemporary American culture in the context of late-stage capitalism, looking at youth & beauty culture, excess, and ritual − shifting away from the patriarchal gaze. Her latest film, Christmas, Every Day, premiered at SXSW Film Festival domestically and Hot Docs internationally, taking the special jury award, and was released by NYTimes Op-Docs. It also streamed on Le Cinema Club, Short of the Week, and was a Vimeo Staff Pick.Her film Alpha Kings, co-directed with Enrique Pedraza-Botero, won the Grand Jury Prize for Social Commentary at AFI Fest and is now available to stream on The New Yorker and Vimeo Staff Picks. Her films have also screened at MoMA, True/False Film Festival, IFFR, Camden Film Festival, Rooftop Films, Champs Elysées Film Festival, and Palm Springs ShortFest, among others, and her work has slso been distributed and featured by Aeon, Nowness, and Paper Magazine.
She was a Film Independent Fast Track Producing Fellow and an AFI Cinematography Intensive for Women fellow in 2024. She recently produced Union County (Sundance 2026) and was the Story Producer and a Cinematographer on Amazon Studios forthcoming docuseries Murder 101 (Sundance 2026). She previously served as VP Development & Production for LA based Passage Pictures, overseeing development for the company alongside its CEO, and was Director of Acquisitions & Production for FilmRise, where she championed the release of award winning films, including Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner The Miseducation of Cameron Post.
She received an MFA in Documentary Film & Video at Stanford University.
